DIY: Bleached Denim Shirt
the Dries Van Noten way |
the DIY way |
The Steps:
- get an old denim button down from your local vintage shop.
- wet the sleeves to the elbow in your sink.
- soak the wet sleeves in clorox bleach and let them sit overnight.
- by morning, the sleeves should be white and dry.
TIP: the longer the bleach sits, the whiter the sleeves will be!

When Lace Isn't Trashy..
If you're craving a different summer short in replace of your staple denim cut-offs, I suggest purchasing a pair of lace shorts. Think of them just like denim--plus they are much more lightweight!
Tip: Make sure the shorts are well-made (including the lace)--smaller, thin lace fabrics look cheap and wear easily.

The Summer Power Suit
During the summer, one of my favorite go-to looks is shorts & a blazer. I call this the "Summer Power Suit". The summer power suit is sophisticated enough to wear to a nice social event or even a casual work meeting.
All this outfit really consists of is dressy neutral shorts, a silk or cotton tank, and a neutral silk or linen blazer. To understand what I'm talking about, I'm just going to share the ways I would style this suit:
Remember to keep the colors light and basic. To complete the look, I suggest neutral wedges or sandals and gold jewelry.

Style Me A Pretty Room
I've already shown you the ideas I have for my new closet since I've been obsessively looking at style blogs for room inspiration. My current room has a color scheme of basic black, white, and a hint of pink & robin's egg blue. I've thrown in a little faux fur too because I'm ridiculous like that. But the overall theme would be Breakfast at Tiffany's meets Shabby Chic. So here's ideas I've found online I thought I would share!
